Construction project BinnenDok on NDSM Wharf underway

22 maart 2021

In cooperation with BMB development (part of VolkerWessels) we started the construction of the multifunctional project BinnenDok at the NDSM shipyard mid March 2021. BinnenDok consists of 107 apartments, an office building, commercial (plinth) facilities, a roof garden and a public car park with 525 parking spaces.

The development is being realized in the heart of the NDSM wharf. BinnenDok's architecture is inspired by the tough and industrial character of the NDSM, once one of the largest shipyards in the world. The building was designed by heren 5 architecten from Amsterdam. Kondor Wessels Amsterdam is responsible for the construction of the apartments, the office building and the commercial plinth facilities. Continental Carparks is responsible for the realization of the public parking garage.

For residents and the neighborhood

The building ensemble is directed towards the IJ, so that the apartments located higher up have a clear view of the water. Commercial facilities will be built on the ground floor. There are parking options for residents of the complex in the adjacent public parking building.

Most of the houses have been sold. Information about the apartments that are still available can be found at www.levenopndsm.nl/binnendok. The public parking garage (525 parking spaces) - with commercial spaces below - has been sold to Catella Parken Europe, represented by Orange Investment Managers. The project will be completed in the course of 2023.

New multifunctional city district

We are working closely together with BMB development and the municipality of Amsterdam (as well as other parties in the area) to turn the NDSM wharf in a beautiful neighborhood where it is pleasant to live, work and relax. Until 2030, the total program will be expanded to approximately 5,000 rental and owner-occupied homes, leisure and cultural functions, public service companies, commercial spaces, (small) offices, shops and parking facilities. The NDSM wharf is part of the northern banks of the IJ West. In the coming years, the area will make a significant contribution to the supply of new construction and thus offer housing for the population growth of Amsterdam.
